The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at City College of San Francisco is a college-wide incubator of ideas that students bring to life, from concept development to market testing all the way to impact. It offers a wide array of academic certificates, co-curricular learning options, and a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem to support its curricular offerings. The courses in this program are project-based, which allows students to develop, design, and test new ideas and business concepts that address real-world needs.


We are looking for mentors to help guide and coach students as they work on a semester-long startup project. See more about this below.

  • Student entrepreneurs will complete a Business Model Canvas and product/service prototype
  • Selected students will pitch their ideas to a live audience in front of a panel of judges who are existing entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals and thought leaders.

By participating, your company/organization will:

  • Create opportunities for your employees to pay it forward, develop mentoring skills, and build connections with the San Francisco community.
  • Help develop CCSF into a potential future pipeline to your workforce.

We are looking for Mentors from your company who are:

  • Willing to commit to a number of hours (in-person or virtual) with student(s) during the semester. Office space will be provided by the Center, with a computer, phone, printer, and other basic supplies needed by the mentor.
  • Open to sharing feedback and guidance with our student(s)
  • Committed to serving under-resourced student populations.
  • Professionals and entrepreneurs with demonstrated records of success in their respective fields.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles with emphasis on technology, R&D, strategic planning, marketing, business development, and venture capital funding.
  • Experience in Lean Startup Method, Business Model Canvas, Design Thinking, and pitching to investors.

The mentor's role is to guide students, help them build their entrepreneurship and innovation skills, and to provide an experiential learning approach with the mentor's industry experience and hard-earned wisdom.

NOTE** Students are looking for mentors on Riipen, not projects from companies on Riipen.
